Today’s reading: Ephesians 1
Parts that stood
- Who the Holy Spirit is- 1:13-14
Summary of the reading:
The first part of the book is Paul’s greeting to Ephesus. He then goes into detail about the believers in Christ in the heavenly realms. The Greek words of “heavenly realms” can be translated into “heavenly things”. These words signify that which is heavenly in contradistinction to that which is earthly. “Heavenly realms” may also be defined as the sphere of Christian’s spiritual experience as identified with Christ in nature, life, relationships, service, suffering, inheritance and future glory in the kingdom.
Personalizing the reading (New International “Dave” Version):
All of you were included with Jesus when the word of truth was heard, which is the gospel of your deliverance. After believing, you were manifested in Him with an assurance, the Holy Spirit, who is a promise acquiring our heritage until the liberation of those, who are God’s possession, to the praise of His glory. This is one of the greatest descriptions of the Holy Spirit. He was sent on this earth to fulfill Jesus’ promise to us, that He will never leave nor forsake us. The Holy Spirit was put on this earth as a comfort to us and to secure our blessings and inheritance.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to guide and direct me while you aren’t physically here. He has been a comfort and guidance to me. If He were absent from the earth, your glory and blessings would not be felt in my life. Thank you Lord!
